History - order #668
Huel was first available in June 2015, I made my first order on August 16th 2016, I was adding it to my morning smoothies and combining almond butter, banana, spinach, spirulina and oats. The idea was to use huel instead of regular oats as the binding agent. I bought the unsweetened unflavoured version and I found it kept me fuller for longer coming up to lunch. I got the free t-shirt and shaker and cancelled the very next day. It felt like I had eaten food from the future, it was efficient, nutritious and it kept hunger at bay.

Huel Powder v2.3
Huelfast
When eating it longer term I would only have huel and water for the first eating window of the day. As soon as I wanted to eat regular food I would then stop eating it for the day.
Eventually I would only have huel up till my evening meal with it spread out over three hour intervals at around 1200 calories. I am happy to testify I could go all day with energy to spare for an hour of tennis in the evening before dinner. Sport and fitness heavily utilise routine with huel providing a filling and nutritious alternative to doing regular meal prep.
Using the unflavoured and unsweetened version I added Lacuma powder to gave it a light caramel taste, the first huel of the day (8am) contained chlorella & spirulina powder, the two subsequent (11am, 1pm) were made with almond butter and cacao nibs. For over a year, until December 10th 2019, I drank huel daily, at which point I went on holiday and decided to have a break, going back to porridge and sausage sandwiches for breakfast.
Black Edition - Chocolate
In March 2020 I again craved the simplicity of not having to think about breakfast or lunch. The black edition had just been released and two new flavours were introduced. I tried both chocolate and vanilla, I found the chocolate edition had a malty goodness to it.

The black chocolate edition is the marmite of the huel world, it has it’s detractors. It is by far my favourite flavour to date mainly combining it with almond butter and hazelnut milk it makes for a protein filling way to sustain life. Huel became the staple for breakfast and during the week used for lunches right up until January 2021.
Huel have now been around for five years and have gone from a single product line to covering two standard versions, gluten-free and professional, bars, and also a hot savory version. As a company they are making sustainable meals that have a lower environmental impact compared to other parts of the food industry. Find out more about Huel on their website
